Have a nice day everyone!
I´m going to New York this Christmas vacation (Dec 24-Dec 27, 2010)and my work permit will expire on January 02, 2010. My new work permit is still on process...my question is: "Is it ok for me to travel while my work permit is still on process? I´m worried ´coz my friends told me that in some cases the immigration might hold me coz of my work permit.
Please i need your help/advice for this matter.

You should stay home until you get your work permit in the mail.
As far as CBSA goes you are supposed to leave Canada before January 02/11
And you are attempting to re-enter Canada on Dec 27/10?
Bad idea.

arriving on December 27 will tell CIC you have no intention of following the rules and leaving at the expiry of your permit, unless you have a plane ticket that is going to show you leaving Canada by Jan 2.

If you have already applied for your extension inland, then bring proof as well as return BEFORE your work permit has expired.
Any time you leave Canada you have no guarantee of being allowed to return, however this will help.
