my partner lives in texas, born american. i am german born but have canadian citizenship. just until a few years ago he was able to travel anywhere in the world, which he has done. when coming to visit me some 2 to 3 years ago the canadian immigration refused his entry, due to his criminal record from 20 odd years ago (he was in a fight with another man - both men were charged with assault under the influence). they said since 9/11 -the american side refuses to let quite a few canadians in - possibly related to terrorist scare, so the canadian border - in return - restricts entry to quite a few of americans in return now.
i would love to see my partner up here for a visit. what steps do we need to take to remedy the situation?
