Subject: Visitor Visa
I have been living in Canada for 2 years on a visitor visa, my husband has a work permit. We have just been approved on the BC PNP. My question is my Mother back in UK has cancer and will die within the month. As i am still on visitor visa can i return to UK for my mothers funeral then return to Canada on the same visa or am i not allowed to leave Canada.

It all depends upon what type of visitor visa do you have. If your visa is a single entry visa, you can´t enter canada on that visa. If the visa is a multiple entry visa, you can re enter canada without any hassles.

But i am doubtful whether you are living in canada legally, because as you said you are on a visitor visa, which is normally valid for 6 months on a stretch unless you get some special permission. So,i think the advise i gave you may not be fit for u.

My visitor visa has been continually extended due to the fact my husband is here on a work permit and our PNP application was being processed. Each visa has been extended for 1 year in line with my husbands work permits, so yes i am here legally. My visitor permit states DOES NOT AUTHORISE RE-ENTRY

It means, you can´t re enter canada (As your visa is a single entry visa)as i have advised you earlier.

Sandeep is giving you the wrong advise as usual.

Whether you have a multiple entry visa or a single visa, everytime you extend your permit it will always say DOES NOT AUTHORIZE RE-ENTRY. Actually look at your husband´s work permit. It says the same thing in the bottom of the page.

That is because visitors or workers have no legal right to enter Canada as Canadian citizens or PR do. Visitors/workers have to be inspected by CBSA and after examination the officer makes the final call.

Are you a UK citizen?
If you are, what you should bring with you upon entry is a copy of your husband´s work permit along with a letter of employment and your marriage certificate.

I guess you are going to have to pick another location for a honeymoon. Canada does not believe you will go home at the end of your visit.
