Subject: Landing In canada by own car
I am a us citizen. I have got my immigrant visa for canada for me and my family (wife ,Son and daughter ).I live in buffalo ny and will move to toronto canada. I have a job offer with accomodation and permanent address in canada. My wife and son are working with good jobs in buffalo. My daughter is studying in Carribean islands school of medicine. All of us are in buffalo in NY and plan to do landing at queenston lewiston bridge in buffalo this week.Ihave 3 cars. My latest car was purchased just2 weeks ago. I wanted to export the car with me to canada and bring two others by including in my list of goods to follow. I learnt that the Nissan car company voids the warranty on car if the car is taken out of country within 6 months. So i cancelled the idea of exporting it to usa along with my landing. My questions are as follows
1 Can I and my daughter do the landing now ( as she is flying out of usa to carribean next sunday ),and my wife and son do landing formalities later on. (visa expiring in October) or we all should do landing together. My wife and son can´t leave the jobs immediately only when they find jobs in canada can they come to canada.
2 What should be my precise answers to the leading questions are you landing now or later, and how long you would stay in canada as we all want to make a u turn and come back to see my daughter off. I have my own address in toronto and can come back and collect my PR Card
3 Can I drive in my own car or I have to go by a cab or just walk in and walk back? I have learnt they don´t allow to land with a us plate car to just drive in and not import at the same time.
4 What will be the scenario if all of us land together complete papers and come back ? What should be told if asked how long you guys are going to stay in canada?
5 What will be the problems in bringing the other cars later on.
6 I want to carry $ 19000 can dollars cash among four of us.Should I tell I am carrying this in cash or I should carry less than 10,000 in cash.Consequences ?I have proof also to show 20000 dollars in my account in usa.
7 Can I drive and bring my son´s car after I swap my us licence with a canadian licence ifwhen i come to usa or when he comes to canada if he decides to land later and not now with me.
I am really very much concerned ,and will appreciate answers from experienced friends in this forum. Thanks in advance.

some questions I cannot answer

1. The principle applicant must land first with some or all of their dependents. Yes, some dependents can arrive later as long as the visas have not expired. You will need to be in the country when that happens.

2. How does your daughter intend to maintain her PR residency requirements if she is not living in Canada?

Thanks Sharon, for your attention. My daughter is in her last semester in carribean island. she will come back to usa in dec. 2010. She will do her rotations in Ny and will come to Canada in two and a half years fom now. She will try to get residencyin canada. I heard that for studies outside canada the period is counted towards your min. stay required to maintain status.
