Does anyone know if it is ok to fly into Canada during the processing of the PR spouse visa on a tourist visa?

My PR visa is, I think, almost done (I got a request for final payment) and want to fly into Canada (on a tourist visa) to be with my wife and send my passport to my visa office in Berlin so they can give me the papers and then have them send it to my address in Canada.

I won´t have to expect problems at the border because I qualify for all the tourist visa requirements correct?

THANKS!

Don´t you think that it makes more sense to wait until you get your PR visa and CORP and then travel to Canada and become a PR?

There two things here that you are not considering:

1- You are going to present yourself as a turist when you get inspected by a CBSA officer.
Depending on what your story is, there is a possibility that you may or may not be refused of entry.
If you are refused of entry, that will affect your PR application.

2- Let´s say that you entered Canada. Now what? Your visa office in Berlin is not going to be very happy that you don´t have a passport in a country where you are only a visitor and on top of that in order to become a PR you have to leave and re-enter Canada. I hope you understand that. You are opening your self for trouble.

You should think again about your "plan". It is not a good one.

Thanks for your insight DocD. 2 questions:

- I asked my embassy if it is ok to fly in already and they said I could because after I get my passport back I can go to my local Canadian office and register as landed immigrant. Have you hear report that this is not possible?
- What does CORP mean?

No, in order to become a Permanent Resident in you case you have to "land" in Canada. You could go to the US and make a U turn at the border and land in the Port of Entry and re-enter Canada.

CORP stands for Confirmation of Permanent Residence. It is a document that you are going to get along with your visa when approved.
