Subject: Skilled worker - Master's Degree
  Hello!

Does anyone know if a person who holds a Law Degree from a country other than Canada (5 years) + a Master´s Degree in Accounting (1.5 years) from a country other Canada gets the 25 maximum points for the Education Factor? The occupation would be accountant.

Also, what is the test that you need to take to show as evidence of your English/French language skills?

Thank you.

IELTS is your only option for English proficiency.

You will get your full points for education but my bigger question to you would be- are you employable. Those 2 skills are not on the current skill shortage list and your licensing would not be recognized in Canada without some additional training.

Thank you, Sharon.
What licensing is not recognized?
I would be looking for a job as an accountant.
What would be the additional training?
Is it common for Immigration officers to deny an application if the person obtains the 67 points if they think the person is not employable?
Can the IELTS result be 8 years old?
If I obtained the Master´s in an English speaking country, wouldn´t that be sufficient as evidence of English skills (moderate/high)?

I would suggest you have a very good read - www.cic.gc.ca immigration, skilled workers.

Your IELTS is too old and the new rules specify it must be an IELTS exam.

This is the list of skills that Canada is accepting at the moment.

0631 Restaurant and Food Service Managers
0811 Primary Production Managers (Except Agriculture)
1122 Professional Occupations in Business Services to Management
1233 Insurance Adjusters and Claims Examiners
2121 Biologists and Related Scientists
2151 Architects
3111 Specialist Physicians
3112 General Practitioners and Family Physicians
3113 Dentists
3131 Pharmacists
3142 Physiotherapists
3152 Registered Nurses
3215 Medical Radiation Technologists
3222 Dental Hygienists & Dental Therapists
3233 Licensed Practical Nurses
4151 Psychologists
4152 Social Workers
6241 Chefs
6242 Cooks
7215 Contractors and Supervisors, Carpentry Trades
7216 Contractors and Supervisors, Mechanic Trades
7241 Electricians (Except Industrial & Power System)
7242 Industrial Electricians
7251 Plumbers
7265 Welders & Related Machine Operators
7312 Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics

7372 Drillers & Blasters - Surface Mining, Quarrying & Construction
8222 Supervisors, Oil and Gas Drilling and Service

Canada is not accepting either one of your skills at the moment unless you are able to secure employment before applying. Senior accounting managers would likely need to be a CA or CGA designation.

I am sorry that this does not appear to be great news for you.
