Subject: Sponsorship of spouse within Canada
Hi there! I´m wondering if somebody applied for sponsorship of spouse within Canada? How long the process does it take? Official site says that it takes approximately 7-8 months. But if I´m not mistaken its only about to check all papers not about final feedback.
Am I right?

The other question is about delivery. How do you usually check if they receive papers? Should I call them? I sent my papers by UPS and I saw through UPS site that these papers were delivered.

Please advice
Thanks

My wife recently became a resident of Canada. I am Canadian she is Irish we married last June 2009.

We applied for sponsorship last October she was granted permentant resident May 2010 aprox 7 months. We got really lucky most people wait longer I´m not sure why we only had to wait 7 months.

My advise to you is to make sure you both have all the correct paper work, and have aquired all the prerequisites required by CIC in order for you to become a PR. The more proof you provide them the easier it is for them to make a decision on your case.
Once you send away your paper work it´s all just a waiting game it will take several months before you here a word back from CIC by mail.

Unfortunatly there is no way for you to know they received the papers, so be sure you sent them to the right office. If you already saw that UPS made the delivery then they weremost likley received.

On one more quick note once you hear back from them with a decision you will know right away if your approved, they will then make you an appointment to meet with an immigration officer usually 3 weeks after that. Good luck!

there are 2 phases to sponsorship - sponsor approval and applicant approval. Inland sponsor approval takes 7-8 months for the for first phase only. I have heard endless complaints that it takes even longer) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp#sponsorship

Then the file goes to the applicants home CIC office. You can add another 7-8 months on top of that.

Outland applications have the first phase reduced to 45 days.

As for sending documents - your UPS confirmation is all you will have until they send you a file number that your application has been opened and looked at.

Dear Sharon,
thank you very much for your feedback. All I need is to wait.

As my new friend says - we need to pray and wait.

Thank you very much once again.

is there a reason you elected to file inland rather than outland? how long has your application been in the system?

Dear Sharon,
The reason is I wanted to be with my husband and wait for decision together. I´ve sent application on June 21st this year. So I´m just wondering when I can check my application status through their official site.

there was nothing stopping you from filing an outland application and hanging out in Canada.

I would consider withdrawing the application and starting again unless 14-16 months waiting with no chance for appeal is OK for you.

Dear Sharon,
I think you´re right but the point is that I´m already in Canada and if I leave the country there´s no guarantee that I will receive visa to come back to Canada.

Today I´ve met one American lady who has got married Canadian citizen last October. They applied for sponsorship within Canada. Could you imagine that she´s still awaiting for feedback. She applied 6 months ago thanks to lawyer. There´s no answer.
Now I want to be sure that they´ve received my papers and wait for feedback.

you are not quite listening. Stay exactly where you are - file outland. declare your permanent address as being back home.

do a little more research...
