Subject: Please help.. Inland or Outland application in my
I am Dutch, my boyfriend Canadian.

The idea is for me to come to Canada at the end of August. What should I do, inland or outland application?

--The inland application process (all from within Canada) takes 12-18 months, but allowes sponsored to apply for open work permit as soon as eligable for it (when first stage of immigration process is approved)

--The outland application process (start from the Netherlands, wait process out in Canada) takes 6-12 months, but sponsored has to apply for regular work permit. (Work permit will be seperate process then the immigration process).

SO: Which application is best to do? Inland or Outland.

Because: if we start the outland application comming week already: the time it takes for this process to be completely approved might be even faster then it takes to wait for the first stage of the inland application to be approved (which is when the open work permit will be issued). Plus with outland we have the right of appeal and the sponsored can leave Canada if needed for e.g. unforseen family reasons.

Thank you so much in advance..!!

around here we are firm believers outland applications. additional reason - there is an option for appeal if something goes sideways.

Plus there is nothing logically stopping you from coming over and being with your partner during the application process. Win - Win situation.

Another vote for outland for the same reason others have stated.

Plus, if you pick inland, then you should not leave Canada while the application is being processed. The reason why is that there is always a chance you might not be allowed back into Canada - and if you´re not allowed back in, then CIC will assume that you have abandoned your inland application and you´ll have to start again from scratch.

So another question you have to ask yourself (if you´re thinking about inland) is how would you feel about not being able to leave Canada for 12-18 months?

Go outland.
