Subject: Spouse Sponsership
  Hi,

My father has cleared the interview for Business class category immigration from New Delhi (India)...We have received letter for medicals. I am a dependant and so i have also qualified. I am engaged and we are planning to get married after all immigration formalities are over so that my spouse can also be eligible. I am aware that that i will have to enter canada with my father as he is the principle applicant and then come back to get married. Please suggest the best way to do it??Can I sponser my spouse immediately after marriage or do i have to wait to show my income etc...
- How long will the entire procedure take??
- Do i need my PR card for spouse spounsership or just being a landed immigrant is enough??
- Do i have to go back to cananda after marriage or can i or my father sponser my husband from India/canada???

STOP THINK

Would you still be a dependent of your Father if you got married?

NO!

Therefore if you get married (THAN) come to Canada get landed as a dependent your new husband former fiance would not be examined he would be IRPR 117 (9) (d) and never allowed to be admitted into Canada EVER!

*****
Come to Canada get Landed than go back and marry your fiance. The only additional expense is a return air ticket. Return Tickets are normally less expensive than one way air tickets.

Wishing you a very happy life!

karishma- land in Canada. Get a job. go back home, get married... return to Canada - alone. start sponsorship (outland) and wait. No other options.

Anita - something is not right but you have not provided any information that would allow us to help you. The only reason it could be taking this long is that there is a concern about you as a sponsor or your husband and his qualification.

yes, you need a job but do not have to prove a minimum income. Your father cannot co-sponsor (and does not need to)

BE VERY CAREFUL. If there is little time between the date you land and the date you attempt to sponsor, CIC is going to examine your file to make sure you did not lie about your family status AND they will also look at your husband´s file very carefully to make sure he is not using family class sponsorship as an easy way into Canada.

your spouse should go ahead and apply for an open work permit. it takes 27 days (according to yesterday update). the PR can come anytime between 4-12 months, depending on the background and security checks.
Piece of advice for those newcomers or new immigrants to canada. Beware of agents who will give good offers but in the end might get you into trouble. Like my husband´s experience. Laeeque Ahmed, an agent of a real estate offered my husband fake pay stubs. He created them for him and now we are in trouble. Laeeque says he had no involvement and do not recall doing any such thing. The banks called us in because they found out. What should we do ? We do not know where to complain and lawyers cost a lot of money. http://www.laeeque.com
