Subject: Foreign business as PR / work abroad |
|

Hi,
I got a question regarding starting a business as a PR with assignments abroad and/or working as an employee abroad.
From my understanding as a PR you need to stay approx. 700 days within 5 years in Canada in order to get your PR renewal after 5 years. However, what if I start a business in Canada that makes me work most of the time abroad? Assume that my company would be registered in Canada and I still pay taxes here but physically I´d be abroad. Does this time count for CIC as being abroad or in-country?
What if I was employed and my employer would send me overseas as an expatriate for the next 4 years? would I risk my PR?
Thanks for your input!
Brian
