Subject: Non skilled or related american moving to canada?
  Hi,

I am a Canadian living in Ottawa, age 23, and my girlfriend, 21, lives in Buffalo. We have been dating for about 2 years now and we want to move in together. Since I have a nice cozy Gov job and she doesn´t have anything permanent we decided it would be best for her to move in with me.

I looked at the Canadian immigration site but she does not apply under the skilled worker or family related categories. Also applying for a student visa is out of the question because we couldn´t afford it (because she would be considered a foreigner which raises the tuition fees), but we could afford it if she was a Canadian resident, but that is not the reason why she would be moving anyways.

Is there a way for her to be able to come live with me and perhaps be able to find work in local stores and such?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Manik

Does she have any professional skills, or educational strengths?

She can most likely find an employer in Ottawa who cannot find a local worker but can get an Labour Market Opinion and make out a job offer for her.

If she completes the contract for the temporary employment she can apply for other permanent applications to stay.

your girlfriend (in reply to: Non skilled or related american moving to canada?)
I would suggest get married and do a sponsorship. That would be the fastest way considering her lack of skills.

Hi an thanks for the responses.

So would it be better if we got married in the states or in canada?

and how long does a sponsorship take once we get married for her to get her full citizenship?

Moving (in reply to: Non skilled or related american moving to canada?)
I am planning on moving from Indiana to Canada and I need to find a moving company to help me with the move. My husband and I are moving for his sales job and I am pretty excited about it. We haven´t even seen the house that the company bought us yet, and I won´t know anyone there so I am also pretty anxious. I am here to ask advice about the moving company thing. Do I look for a Canadian moving company or do I find one in Indiana? I am obviously clueless. I did a little online searching and found these montreal movers but I don´t know anything about them. If someone could give me a review before I look into them further, it would help speed up this process for me. Thank you for any help you can give me.
