Subject: Sponsoring my wife from India
  Hello All,

I just ran across this forum, have been reading for a while and hopefully someone would be kind enough to assist me.

Situation: I am a Canadian citizen sponsoring my wife from India. We took 5 months after marriage (stupid, I know) to submit the forms. I am sponsoring her from outside the country. The forms only reached CPC in Mississauga about 40 days ago. Right now its been 6+ months since marriage that I have seen her.

While filling out the application, I checked / double checked, paid the fees in full, provided a *LOT* of information (phone records, emails, onliune records, almost 300 pictures etc.) to make sure that does not cause the application to slow down.

TWO Questions
=============
1) Is it possible for her to come to Canada on some other visa, or some other way, even temporarily, so I can spend some time with her?? I miss her so much, I just don´t know what to do.
2) How long is it going to take?

Thanks so much.

Dee

you are still in phase 1 where they approve you as the sponsor. You have at least 6 months to go.

The chances are poor that they will give her a vistors visa - they are pretty sure she will not go home at the end of her visit.

I understand that it is difficult but buy a webcam, call often, or break down and buy yourself a plane ticket.

Your quick reply (in reply to: Sponsoring my wife from India)
Sharon,

Thanks very much for your prompt reply. You are right, I am counting it as month six, as opposed to month 2...I do have some time to go.

As for keeping in touch, once again, you have the nail right on the head. That is what we have been doing. Its just...hehe...patience I suppose.

I read somewhere that if I use my (online) receipt number to check the status of my application, it slows the progress of the app itself. Is there any truth to that, or am I simply remembering incorrectly?

Thanks again!
Dee

you can check your status 10,000 time and it will not slow anything down. It might make you crazy... but it won´t slow things down.

The best thing you can do is ensure you have supplied everything requested, and proved your relationship beyond any doubt. That will avoid a request for additional documents (read delay) and interview (read delay).

Think about those soldiers or old seamen that would get on a boat and travel the world for months on end - no mail, no phone, no news, nothing. Somehow, there woman was waiting patiently at the garden gate for their man to come home. Think about relationships before internet and skype. Expensive phone calls or letters.

In that context... life is sweet.

Hi Dee,

Now its the time of climax...

Make sure, your wife has everything to send and recheck the forms and information to avoid any further delay. Do whatever it takes to get the PCC out to her hand, its the most tedious and time consuming task.

Best luck for everything.

The last (-ish stage) (in reply to: Sponsoring my wife from India)
Nisha, and anyone who would be able to help,

What do I do at this point? I got a letter saying that the application in on the way to Delhi, as per my previous post, and after that, nothing! It has been 6 weeks or so since.

Nisha, the PCC, medical, fees, photos, everything were submitted along with the original application.

How do I check the status of the application at this point? What can I do to speed this up? I can´t even check the status of the application online "Not Available". I am honestly not sure what to do at this point.

I can wait and be patient, but I need to know that I am not wasting my time (in the sense that the application is just sitting there waiting for something, and I don´t know about it). She checks her mail and her email rigorously as well, and keeps her phones with her at all times. I really appreciate your help, and thanks very much for the well wishes.

Sincerely,
Deepak

Cannot check status of application???? Pls help (in reply to: Sponsoring my wife from India)
Hello All,

Thanks for following my story thus far. In a nutshell:
* I´m a Canadian citizen
* Sponsoring my wife, who is an Indian citizen
* Sponsored as "out of country"
* Application with CPC - Mississauga on Mar 15 2010
* Acknowledgement that the app has been sent to New Delhi on 28 Apr 2010
...that´s it...

I am not able to track the application on line using the Client ID number or the Receipt number. My friend submitted his application 2 weeks before me, and his wife is already in Canada.

Am I doing something wrong here? or not doing enough?

Thanks,
Deepak
