I am a new canadian immigrant. I want to visit my friend in USA but do not have canadian passport. Can I use my back country passport to go to USA. How can I visit my friend in USA if that passport not accepted.

Depending on your country of origen you may or may not need a visa to visit the US.
If you need a visa, set up an appointment at US Embassy and apply for a B1/B2 visa to visit the US.
In order to return to Canada, all you need is your Passport and your PR card.

You must have ties to Canada so they can give u a visa to the states to be sure u will return back to Canada. That tie can be a job, some sort of business, family members sttill in Canada etc.
