Subject: Change of marital status after receiving CSQ
  Hello,

I was wondering if someone could advise me in this case: I live in Switzerland. I had applied for Quebec immigration a few months ago as a single applicant, and I´ve now received my CSQ (Cértificat de Sélection du Quèbec) a few days ago. So here´s my question:

I should prepare the documents to send to the embassy for Canadian visa (for PR). Now if I get married in the following months, should I restart the whole application process (even the Quèbec selection process) for my wife? It´s mentioned in CSQ that they should be notified in case of marriage and also an amount of 150 CAD should be paid for my wife. But how long will this hinder the process? And more importantly, what if I´ve already sent out my documents and I´m waiting for the visa? Will the change invalidate my own CSQ as well?

And finally, as we´re kind of flexible on the date, in general is it better that we get married sooner and then proceed with the immigration process, or do you suggest that we delay our marriage until I´ve received my PR?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi,

I wouldn´t worry about it. I got married whilst my application was still in process at the federal level; All I did was notify the High Commission, apply for a CSQ for my spouse which took a month to process, and then send the 2 CSQs to the High Commission. 4 weeks after that, I got the medical request for both of us.
PS: My application was processed in London.

Would you please explain how you applied for a CSQ for your wife?

Did you do this by email or u sent the documents by post?

What forms did you send ? Did you have to fill any forms for yourself or it was only for your spouse ??

I appreciate your kind response.

Thanks

csq after marriage (in reply to: Change of marital status after receiving CSQ)
Hello,
Same situation here. I am a Turkish citizen and I received my CSQ for myself as a single applicant in July 2010 from Syria and getting married in February 2011. I asked to consulate what to do and here is the answer:
-New Demande d´application CSQ forms for both you and your spouse.
-Educational and professional background of your spouse
- 150 CAD
- Copy of passport of your spouse
- Act of marriage
- Financial self sufficiency for updated for two people
- photo of your spouse
- Your old CSQ

You send them to your processing centre. And they will cancel your old CSQ and resend two new CSQs for you and your spouse.
