hi everyone,
i just want to ask if there is a limit on the amount of luggage at the POE for 1st time immigrants. the airlines allow 2 pieces of 32-kg luggage for each passenger (immigrant) what about the canadian immigration at the POE? i appreciate anybody who can shed light on this.

You can bring in as much as you want if you´re landing as a new permanent resident. That´s your right as a new PR. But you must declare everything on your "goods" list at the time of arrival for landing.
Keep in mind that you can also send the rest of your belongings later, such as by ship at a cheaper pallet rate. But you must list those items on your "goods to follow" list also at the time of landing.

thanks for the reply richard. i also did some research and downloaded a form (in pdf format) that the first-time immigrants will use to declare the goods that are being brought in at the POE. yes, there is a form for "goods to follow" so the immigrant can ship his stuff at a much later date.
again, thank you and we´re looking forward to land in canada very soon.

Cool, you mean that as new PR, we can bring stuffs as much as we want? Canada allows that? But will there be no problem as we check in our luggage at the airline counter?

That is between you and the airline. Canada has nothing to do with it.

Congratulations and welcome to your new country, Dennis. As noted above, airlines will be very restrictive on how much baggage they allow on board for obvious reasons. So for overseas immigrants, later shipments of the majority of belongings via surface transportation is the best option.

hi joycee, the airlines usually allow 2 pieces of 32-kg luggage for each passenger (or first-time immigrant). i suppose every kg in excess of 64 kgs will be charged accordingly (depending on the airlines). we should also check with the airlines how much they charge for excess (per kg) and if there is a maximum for excess baggage (for every passenger).

uhhm.. its my first time to go to canada as an immigrant, and im doubting to bring some identical items. because someone told me thres a limit in bringing identical items in canada for a first timer like me. soo is it true? thres a limit?

i was not able to confirm this before we landed/entered canada but the info i got was the goods to follow should arrive not later than 12 months after the date of landing.
