Subject: it's 50 months now..no info yet from Manila office
  Hi everyone,

It´s exactly 50 months now since I applied PR but until today I received no info yet from manila visa office regarding my case.
Queries;
1. In case they will start processing my case now, will they require me to submit an IELTS test result? When I submitted my application 4+ years ago, I only submitted proof of my english language efficiency. Is it enough ? Am I right to assume that I qualify and get the passing mark even without the IELTS since I have not heard from them until today.
2. We´re 5 members in the application and I´m the principal applicant.
What if one of my dependent will fail to meet any of the requirements like the medical exam, will that mean a denial of the case?

Please HELP.

Manila eh? that's expected... (in reply to: it's 50 months now..no info yet from Manila office)
I have the same problem, but don´t know what to do. I applied to Manila in Sep/2004, so I´ve been waiting for 5 years and 3 months!

In August 2009 I managed to contact a secretary of a Member of Parliament (MP) in Canada (through a friend in Canada). The people working for MPs have the authority to inquire other govt. offices about a number of matters, including immigration.

All I asked her was to find out whether my application was being processed in Manila, and the real status. She called and later told me that Manila was starting to process applications from 2003. So, I figure that I need to wait one more year.

Sorry, I know this is not very encouraging....

About your questions:
1. IELTS is a requirement no matter what your English level is. Even if you lived in an English speaking country for 20 years, worked in English at a global company or done a PhD in English, they will still ask for the IELTS. They will request it at some point.

2. Not sure, but the medicals are pretty basic (blood/urine tests, X-ray). If any member has a very heavy, rare disease, or HIV, or something that would pose a great risk to the Canadian population, or to the Canadian healthcare, they may refuse that person. But in general it should be OK.

If you submitted your application under the old skilled worker program, before Feb 2008 I think ... your application will take a long long long time, heard from some people that it may even take over 10 years. That´s why people who qualified under the new Federal Skilled Program have been advised to withdraw their old application and re-submit.

May I ask, who had advised that? CIC? Where is that written?
Shouldn´t the consulate tell that to the applicants?

To Anonymus:

I originally applied to Manila in 2007 with no results but last year I got my file transferred to another visa office and the process has been advancing smoothly. I just got my RPRF and passport request.

I am glad I stayed in the same old system because getting all the papers together again would have taken me an extra 6 months, not to mention the enormous cost of translations and other fees.

So, what you say is not entirely true for all applicants. There are ways to get the process sped up even in the old system.

thanks everyone.

For cookie,

Is that mean that it will take 7 years to finalize your case?
If that so, I´ll not take the IELTS yet may be later since it has an expiry date. Besides, it costs us a lot in taking the test

old FSW applications are moving slowly (in reply to: it's 50 months now..no info yet from Manila office)
i applied through FSW on apr 2004 and was given a file number. last 2008, cic manila requested for additional documents and a medical exam. i complied and waited but no approval came. last nov 2009, cic manila requested me for another medical exam (my old medical exam was expired already) and i again complied. last jan 2010, cic manila sent me an approval note and requested for my passport. after 2 weeks, last feb 2010, i received my passport with immigrant visa stamp and landing docs. all in all, my application process took 5 years and 10 months.

when i applied in 2004, my application included the IELTS exam results which i took at the british council (taipan place, ortigas). although the IELTS has a validity of 2 years only, i was informed that language evaluation of fsw applicants will be based on the language ability of the applicant when the application was filed. thus, cic manila didn´t ask me for a new or "updated" IELTS results.

i hope that everything will work out for you guys also. just be patient.

good luck and god bless all of you.
