Subject: PR Renewal
  Hi Guys,
I sometime I WILL BE applying for PR renewal next year and eventually citizenship and want to clarify the residency requirement

1. I have my health card and driver´s license but I have moved a lot and hence the latest ones only have the latest addresses.

2. I will be traveling outside the country a lot too. Should I ask someone (who??) at the airport to put an entry and exit stamp on the passport ?

Even if no entry or exit stamps placed on your passport, you still have to reveal all your trips outside canada when you renew the PR or apply for citizenship. Please don´t try to be smart. This might cost you a lot.

I am not trying to be smart. My question is what documentation should I preserve in order to prove residency requirement. Is there a separate set for PR renewal and citizenship ?

1- There is no PR renewal, you probably mean renewing your PR card?

2- You have to declare ALL your trips outside of Canada in the last 4 years.

3- Canada has NO exit stamps, the closest thing you can get is when you clear customs in a third country, ask the officer to stamp your passport (which most of them do) and then when you come back to Canada ask the CBSA agent to stamp your passport. Then you will have a record of the when you entered the other country and the day you came back to Canada.

Your 3rd question doesn´t make any sense.
a)YES, There is a form to renew your PR card.
b)YES, There is a form to apply for citizenship.
Two completely different forms.

Here is the website and you can find them yourself.

Thanks. To clarify my 3rd question, what I really meant to ask is what documents do I need to prove residency requirement when you Apply for PR renewal through Ontario. Also are these the same set of documents you could use for your residency requirement for our citizenship application later.

One(or a few) question(s) for you "skooter"

When leaving the country, will you be with your spouse?
Is that spouse Canadian?
If yes then it does not matter to the CIC officer (you still need the info, but it is not as crucial) as every day spent outside of Canada with you Canadian CITIZEN spouse is the same as a day spent in Canada.

Or is your spouse a PR of Canada working for a LEGIT Canadian business abroad?
If yes then same as above.

Or are you working for a Canadian business (like the government or TELUS Etc...)
if yes then read answer above.

If your trips are just vacations you will need to just document them, and keep copies of flight information (should not be too hard since you are looking at the future and not trying to dig this up for the past).

keep a file at your home that you put all of your flight confirmations/stubs etc, as well as any information regarding driving trips into and out of Canada.

As long as over the 5 year period you have spent 730 days inside Canada (or in a situation that I listed above) then you are well within your rights as a PR and you have met your residency requirements.

For most this is not really an issue and is alot less work/stress then most would make it feel like.

However remember to be honest, as misrepresentations will not help you at all, and they could lead to enforcement action being taken.

hope that helped

Ok enough. JP is giving you WRONG information.

JP,
Before you give someone a piece of advice make sure you understand the rules yourself.

The fact that you spend time abroad with your "Canadian citizen" spouse doesn´t mean that is the same as a day spent in Canada. That is just plain ignorant.

What the law actually says is that being abroad with your Canadian spouse counts towards your residency requirements but NOT for citizenship.

In order to apply for citizenship you need to have a minimum of 1095 days of physical presence in Canada in a 4 year period.

Guys, you still did not answer what documents I need to prove residency for citizenship. Is just drivers license and health card enough or do they need something more. And there is no spouse involved .
