| Subject: Advice needed- Stay during sponsorship |

HI i have just landed in canada after getting married. I have to sponsor my spouse to come to canada. I want to understand:
1. Do i have to be in Canada for all the time while the sponsorship is being processed for approval
2. Can i go back to india during this process and both of us come together post my spouse gets the visa
Please suggest

Q2: YES
A PR has to be in Canada to apply but there is nothing in the legislation that says a PR has to stay put, can´t travel out of the country for whatever reasons (vacation) when he / she has filed a sponsorship application. He / she just has to be mindful of meeting residency requirement.
