I spoke to my MP´s office regarding my husband´s case and they told me that they will get in contact with London. They also told me that from this point onward that my husband or I MUST NOT get in contact with London any more.
Please, for those of you who have gotten your MP´s office involved in your case, how much longer after the MP´s involvement did it take to finalize your case?
I´m so desperate here . . . I just want my case to be finalized before the end of this year.

Hi Donny!
I´m sponsoring my husband. I´ve started this entire process on October 8, 2008. The application was sent to the London visa office and they began processing on January 8, 2009. On March 26, 2009 my husband had his interview and ever since then until now we have heard nothing. When we get in contact with London, they tell us that they are doing routine background checks and that they´re awaiting the results of these routine background checks and they´ll write to us when they are in a position to do so. We´ve been getting this same exact response for SEVEN months now . . . this is ridiculous!!! This past Friday I went to my MP´s office and told them my situation and they told me that they will get in contact with London, but my husband and I CANNOT get in contact with London any more. They told me that each time that my husband or I get in contact with London we´re actually delaying our case.
I just want to know from other people´s experiences, after they got their MP involved did it help their case and how long from after they got their MP involved did it take to finalize their case?

MP´s have zero control over CIC. what they are going to do is make inquiries on your behalf to see what the hold up might be. They cannot direct CIC staff to change process or to give you priority.

MPs have no control over processing timeline. Don´t forget, he or she likely have constituents whose files are in the same queue so if he / she gets the officer to expedite your file, how fair is it for the rest of the people, which may include some of their own constituents.

^^I couldn´t disagree more. It depends on the MP who you ask for and if he/she has a bearing on CIC and how far he/she is willing to go for you. It would be too naive to think everything is base on fairness especially immigration system. Believe it or not, people can JUMP QUEUE. Few years back, my friend´s lawyer helped her get residency in very short time (like within 5 months) with the help of his MP friend who has much influence on CIC at that time. She would probably need to wait for at least a year otherwise. Of course, you need to have personal level relationship with MP or a person who has it with them. MP wouldn´t go that far for you just being their constituents.

I personally hope that my MP will help his constituents. My husband and I have been waiting for over a year now . . . we just want this to be over with so that we can begin our future together. This is really difficult.

I sponsor my parent to canada in june of 2006 their file was transfer to trinidad August of 2008, in febuary 2009 i submit other papers that they requested since then they have been no response with cic. i am thinking of going to my MP i am not sure if he might be able to do anything for me.
I´ve known people that did this kind of sponsorship after i did and their family is in canada already but i cant hear anything

your MP cannot help you. Wait times often depend how many applications are in front of yours at your particular embassy.

i am really confused, i started my husban application for sponsorship in 2012,,,they rejected my marriage because i was not present at the time of my marriage..my absent was because i just had a baby and i desperately needed my husban to join me. Immidiately i travelled to my country rectify the whole process, submitted my marriage documentation. In oct/2013 they asked me to submit my husban passport and wait my visa in 4-6weeks to response.I sent them an email they advise my file is in the final stage just working hard to complete. a months after no response, sent another email they reply, they are working on background check,,,,that i give 2months , i am really confuse, our two babies were already dancing dady was coming. They are crying everyday ..
