Subject: Landing - What comes Next ?
  Hi.
Some of my background info.
Applicant under Federal Skilled Worker
First Application - Aug 08 (simplified process!)
Medical Examinations Taken - Oct 09
Processing Embassy - Guatemala

My family and I just completed the medical examinations and paid the corresponding fees to have results sent to Port of Spain TT.

I have read that now it takes from 6 to 8 months to get the Visa and corresponding papers.

Our plan is to land sometime during the summer of 2010, stay for 2 weeks or so (get SIN cards), and then return for a period of 6 to 12 months to sell our house, car, etc.

Does anyone know, if one can return to the "home" country after such a short period, 2 weeks, after landing?
We have friends in Edmonton, that we can give their address, for PR cards to be sent to.

Our plan would be to return for a max. period of 6 to 12 month, to our "home" country, and then move for good.

Does anyone see a problem with this plan?

I read that one must not leave Canada for more than 183 days in order to maintain PR status (read it here: http://www.immigration-service.com/landing.htm)

Thank you and kindest regards

Never mind..The 183 day rule is old (circa 2003).

Here are the answers to my question, in case anyone else is one the same boat:

Hi,
No there is nothing wrong with your plan as we have already done that we landed and stayed there for a week and came back to finish our work here and our PR cards were recieved by our friends and were sent to us safely. Therefore,as far as my experience goes you can do that!

I will be acting likewise (in reply to: Landing - What comes Next ?)
Hi I will be in a similar situation. I will be landing in Nov 2009 and staying for about 6 weeks and then returning home. I will have the PR Cards delivered to a friend´s home which will then be sent to me if it does not arrive in 6 weeks.

So by Dr Khan´s experience, it is all right I guess. Do we have to state the intended length of stay when we land? Thank You
