Subject: BILL / SHARON / ROY - APPRECIATE YOUR HELP
  Hi Bill, Sharon & Roy,

On July 16th - 2009, I mailed an application for me and my family from Mumbai, India. It was sent registered mail to the following address :

FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER
Centralized Intake Office
PO Box 7500, Sydney, NS
B1P OA9. Canada

It is well over two months now and I haven´t heard from them.

I would appreciate your advice on how to follow up with CIC to check the status of my application. I tried calling them at 416-973.4444 & 888-242.2100, but the numbers play a recorded message "Temp Unavailable"

Do they have another number or email where I can call/write them to check the status of my application ? Do you guys have any idea about the time it takes for an FSW application to be processed and receive a file # ?

Thanks alot for your help.

Kevin

two months is still a short time. You have to wait more. THe mail between Canada and India might taken 2 weeks or more.

It is still too early, you may expect another 3 to 6 months before you receive your AOR.

Cheers,

Bill

It does not take 3-6 months (in reply to: BILL / SHARON / ROY - APPRECIATE YOUR HELP)
This is wrong. IT takes right now about 6 weeks to receive the decision letter from CPC-Sydney when mailing within Canada. You can add a couple of weeks if you outside of Canada.
I have no idea why Bill would quote 3-6 months as the turnaround time for the CIO in NS.

Amir - please be more respectful to other participants. You are not an authority to declare what is WRONG or RIGHT. Yeah, you could share your thoughts with personal experience.

In my opinion, you are also saying the same thing what Bill has mentioned i.e 3-6 months. U said 6 weeks from within Canada, it means 1-1/2 month. Then u said, for overseas submission, add a couple of weeks, that means how many weeks exactly?? Let´s assume, these are another 4-6 weeks, that translates into another possible 1-2 months. Add all the weeks, it will be close to 3 months...

...having said all this, you even don´t know what Kevin´s family file is made up of. Processing times at any CIC office is not BIBLE and varies from case to case.

My sincere suggestions, Applicants should be patients and avoid trying bothering CIC offices unless a very unusual times has elapsed (atleast 8-12 months). In this case, 2 months is pre-mature to judge the outcome of Kevin´s file.

If you keep calling CIC, you are simply giving them reasons to delay yor processing...

Thanks to all of you for the input which I much appreciate.

It is reassuring to have a second and third opinion from people who have knowledge and experience in such cases.

Best wishes to all of you.

Thanks again.
