Subject: Landed - Final crossing questions!
  Hello,
We officially landed as permanent residents in October 08 with goods to follow. We are now finally able to move in August with our belongings and cars.

If anyone can tell me from experience..how long should we anticipate on border crossing with a large U-haul truck and 2 cars? A few hours? A day? Do we need to do vehicle import/export at the time of crossing or can we come back at a later date to processes vehicles...or is it quick enough to do at the same time as crossing with our belongings?

With 3 kids in tow we are trying to plan enough time (i.e. hotel at border?)...not sure if they will simply take a quick look and comapre to our goods list and we´ll be on our way in 30 minutes, or unload a whole truck and take 2 days to go through boxes or what.

Thanks
Derrick

You have to do your vehicle export/import at that time. Unless there is a line, expect the entire process (including cars) to take no more than hour and probably a lot less. They don´t unpack your truck, but do make sure you have all your paperwork in order.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the prompt reply, hopefully w will miss rush hour.

Now just have to figure out the export/import process to make sure we have everything ready.
