Ok this is our story my boyfriend is from Belgium he came to Canada to visit me as i have been to see him. He is here now and we are wondering how long he can stay here on his international passport as we have found we want to spend more time together.

He would also like to look for work while is here? Is it Possiable for him to work if he finds employment? As he would like to move here in time we are hopeing to get married but we want to wait until he has been here for 3 yrs.

no, as a visitor it is illegal for him to work in Canada. if you want him to be living in Canada he needs to apply from his home country for a work permit or as a skilled worker.

Your current plan is not feasible.

So basically if he wanted to stay permently we would have to get married within the 6 months (if he decides to stay)then i would have to sponser him as a spouse.

or apply for an extention which may or may not be allowed. if you marry, he still can´t work. If you sponsor do not be fooled into applying as inland applicants. double the wait and no appeal. Outland is the way to go even if he is still ´visiting´.

Yes i know about doing the out land application from reading in here. I also thought i read on the main site there were some jobs a person was able to do with out a permit. do you know anything about it? and i thank you Sharon from the bottom of my heart for all your help. As i do not know much about any of this stuff.

The longer I hang out here, the more I realize, the so-called experts seem to enjoy being harsh! People have legitimate concerns and questions. These short, simple answers are often lacking...what I read--in between the lines--are people´s desire to have someone reassure them, even if the answers they want differ from the reality! People, have some compassion, sheesh!

Legal shmegal...there are probably PLENTY of cash-only jobs floating about, and why not? If we all have to put up with the many panhandlers and homeless folks who can´t/won´t work, why shouldn´t some of these "tourists" try to make a bit of $$ while they´re here? Please don´t say its taking away from others who could work "legally", blah blah or the whole tax thing...just look at these idiots bilking people out of their retirement monies...we all wish for an ideal system but it will never be.

I wonder why there exists an inland app.process anyway, if its so fraught with barriers and no appeal?? Why not just do away with it then? what a joke...

would you prefer that I lie? Inland application are approved so why take them away? They just takes twice as long and there is no appeal. That is the price you pay for wanting to be together or not leaving at the end of 6 months. It is a choice and people make that choice every day.

I am not about to lie even if it makes you feel better. After all, CIC does not care what you were told on an immigration forum. They apply their rules. Some people get caught - some don´t. It is my policy to make sure my advice is within the rules. If you think that is harsh... too bad.
