Subject: Security Decision / Question
I am sponsoring my husband to come to Canada. The latest information that I got on my husband´s case is that the case is with an officer for a security decision. What does this mean? Thank you.

I thought it meant that the security officer will look over the application and the background checks and if they clear everything then they will issue the visa to my husband.

if he had no police record, then no need to worry. case with security officer means that he is doing some background checks.

This is a normal thing. It just means (security background check). Everybody undergoes this check. If no history of any criminal records, don´t worry.

Ask yourself if your man committed any crimes or misdemeanors and what kind. If he has clean criminal record, there isn´t much to worry about.

I am amused by some guy who said he married his wife on webcam, over the internet! I hope your marriage is not one of those things. How the heck would you marry on webcam and call it legit?

No, I know 100% my husband has a clean criminal record. Our marriage is legitimate. We´ve known each other for a very long time before we got married. We´ve been married for almost a year now. I started his application (sponsorship of a spouse) after we got married. We´ve been waiting for almost a year now for the application to finish. We just want to be reunited so that we can begin our future together. How long do these background checks take??? On the CIC web site they say that sponsorship applications in London take on average 2 to 8 months. It´s been almost eight months now and we´ve heard nothing. When my husband had his interview back in March, the person that done his interview told my husband that it should only be a month and everything should be finished. Well it´s been almost four months and we have not heard anything. The last information that we got was that my husband´s application is with a security officer for a decision. When I heard this news I got my hopes up thinking that the background checks are over and the security officer is either going to approve or reject the application, and if he approves it then they will issue my husband his visa. Has anyone else had an application in process in London? And if so, how long did it take to finsih? I´m just looking for some hope here. My husband and I really miss each other so much. Thank you!

there is no way to predict how long this might take - it is outside of CIC´s hands at this point. It is hard to say if your husband´s country of origin, name, or random selection has flagged him for a detailed background search. Sometimes it is as simple as vaction time at various country security offices.

All you can do is take a deep breath and hang on. You are almost there.

Security Decision Background Search (in reply to: Security Decision / Question)
Did sad girl´s husband get pass his background search check and get his visa to enter Canada? The USA has the same problem. The FBI takes 2 months to 2 years to complete a background search visa check and get approved. Sad girl did not say what country her husband is coming from. A lot of countries do not keep good records on their citizens and so it takes a long time to run a background search.
