Richard,

"$And Bill, you´re now relegated to "close" category as well"

What do you mean?

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill,
Just kidding... apologies if I offended. You said in another post, "I think DC is right and Richard is close. When crossing the border an officer usually will ask, where do you work? or what do you do for living?". I shouldn´t have used "close" to rate other´s comments.

When you coming down this way again? I think I owe you a beer for something or other in the past. We do have some good pubs.

oh no, I was not offended by any means, I was just wondering if you were upset or something.

I am not sure when I am heading back to Chicago but I will let you know for sure. There are lots of good pubs in your neck of the woods indeed.

I am using an air card in my computer now, it seems to work ok, I have been living in my camper for the last 2 weeks, this spring/summer has been a hoot so far.
We are going down to Montana this weekend to visit an old friend.

Are you planning on moving back to Canada any time soon?

Cheers,
Bill

Yes, let me know. We missed each other when you were here last time.

Hope living in a camper is by choice, although I do like camping too... just a tent in the woods by a lake in my case. I´ve been to Montana, and it´s just beautiful. The closest thing to mountains here in the Midwest are glacier-formed lakes and bluffs in Wisconsin, Devils Lake being a favorite of Chicagoans (near Wisconsin Dells).

Moving to Canada is in the works this year. It´s the job situation that´s the hangup, with this worldwide economic slowdown. Will share more offline, maybe next time you´re here. Wondering if you´re retired now in Kelowna or working as free-lance/contract.

LOL I am living in a camper by choice, I am on vacation.
I am retired in Kelowna, I do a little bit of consulting here and there but nothing serious. I retired very young ;)

Life is awesome.

Cheers, bottoms up....

Bill

I miss camping. I have a friend coming from North Africa later this summer and I think I should rent a camper and show them Canadian style holidays. I tried to explain a marshmallow and smores the other day. It sounded rather rediculous. A hot, puffy sugar cube and a sugar/chocolate sandwich? That was the best I could do.

Bill, you are coming through Vancouver. Richard keeps promising the same. I suggest you both arrive at the same time and we can meet for a brewskie. I owe Richard a round from the Vancouver loss to Chicago.

Sharon,

Yeah, I think we should.

How can you go camping without marshmallows? As a Canadian is your duty to show to your friend how camping is done.

There is nothing like watching a fire at midnight (when is kind of dark) holding a marshmallow in a long funny looking stick.

Goin´ fishing now.
Cheers,

Bill

Yep, Sharon´s got a good idea. I need to collect my bets and remind all good Canadians where real hockey is played and the finalist team located. Will try to time something for a Vancouver trip. Kelowna also looks good to see at the same time.

that is the other thing they are curious about - salmon fishing.

Nothing like the smell of campfire in your hair and clothes.

My husband just returned from a business trip to Chicago and was very impressed with your city, Richard. The architecture and public art really stood out for him, as well as how nice everyone was. The open kindness and helpfulness was a happy reminder of midwestern culture, something we never foresaw missing.

Glad to hear this, wannabe. We´ve been told that for a big city, it´s got small town friendliness. I think the Frank Lloyd Wright influence also helps. The hope here is that similar impressions will have positive results in getting the summer Olympics in 2016. Apparently a decision soon, vying with Rio, Madrid, and Tokyo.
