Subject: Bogus Marriage CTV
CTV are creating a documentary type show about the pitfalls and hurdles of Spousal Sponsorships. It will cover the Bogus aspect of spousal sponsorships including examples of tactics used etc.

It will also highlight as well the genuine marriages that are refused for illogical reasons and the sponsor has to wait for the appeal process. They will show regardless of reapplying the visa post will still refuse again after forcing a second interview. That certain Visa Posts are sometimes totally illogical in their decision process.

Then they will focus on couples applying in Canada and how long that process can take.

I have been asked to participate in the creation of this show to air later this summer.

Will keep you all informed of updates.

There is always two sides to a story and they will be focusing on real marriages that the partners are kept apart far too long with little or no reason as well.

Hiring Investigators to go abroad and peek into couples receptions is definitely not an option as CIC recently did. Three Investigators speaking English who have lived in the following locations (Dawson, Labrador Fishing Port, rural Tennessee) all there life would have difficulty understanding each other when all of them are speaking English. There are thousands of dialects and local phrases which would make any CIC Investigator stand out like a Clown at a Gala event.

I have a 80 year old pastor who spousal sponsorship is being questioned and CIC is demanding his most recent employment letter. He is retired! Like a Pastor is more likely then most to lie.

Why do more spousal sponsors from India get tricked then people from other countries? Why does Hong Kong refuse 70% more spousal sponsorships then Beijing?

Why can´t applicants and their sponsors understand the onus is on them to prove their relationship is genuine???

very interesting:
i feel so sorry for the victims:

if i would be interviewed about this sponsorship, and the IO doubts our marriage (though the fact that it is real)...

i think my last resort would be:

if my spouse cant be with me here in Canada, though it would hurt me, Id rather spend my life wherever my spouse is now.

i dont know..its just hard for real married couples being doubted and those fake ones being believed.

Canadians often think they are too smart to be duped or or they are too naive to think it would happen to them.

Canadians need to understand that their partners are allowed into the country as a courtesy. More often than not, the foreign applicant would not qualify under any other conditions. With a 50% divorce rate out there and a 15% chance that the relationship is fraudulent, it is no surprise that CIC looks at the application as carefully as they do. Even then... wrong decisions are made.

I have often wondered if the US system is better. Your status is conditional for 3 year (I think)

i would love to bet for that conditional status:
for those whose marriage is real...who cares for that conditional status?

but for those under bogus: that Con stat would be a pain..

i know friends who sponsored their family, back home. though that family is not anymore a family...but broken for years or a decade...

luckily they got PR.

if only telling CIC would benefit me...

Bogus marriage people with money would gladly continue paying for a three year period.

There is no real answer one way or the other and this show will address these issues it should be very interesting.

there has to be a way for genuine applicants to show they are legit through conditional PR or some such thing and there has to be a way to make the penalty for scam marriages so high that it is simply not worth it. This home free status upon landing is way too easy.

I know someone who complained to the RCMP regarding his agreement to sponsor a woman from China because he was not paid properly.

He was offered $35,000.00 CA to marry and sponsor a woman from China. He being Vietnamese and not able to speak Mandarin but applicant could speak English. Got $10,000.00 to create a phone record and fly to China for the ceremony. After the wedding got another $8,000.00 to submit the application.

Was to get another $10,000 if no interview and the final amount of $7,000.00 when she arrived in Canada.

Spousal sponsorships if not kicked for an interview are normally 2-3 months only in China. When he saw on e-cas decision made the applicant was already in Canada.

That is when he called the RCMP and accused the middle person of Fraud! Came to us for a divorce.

Conditional PR is dicey. For one, it is a power issue - one party (sponsoring-spouse) having the power to impose upon another - you do this or else I will ...
