Subject: Medical inadmisibility
  Hi,

I was trying to look for information to immigrate to Canada under the Alberta Provinicial nomination for H1 holders. But I found that Canada does not allow people with any kind of special needs to enter as Permanent residents. My 3 year old has down syndrome and is a US citizen but does any one have any information if that would lead to a denial at the medical stage.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is hard to say. Canada´s determination is based on the potential for excessive demand placed on public social or health services. This is something you´d be in a better position to estimate. Otherwise medical conditions themselves, unless contagious, are not cause for denial.

thanks a lot for responding back. Well he is a high functioning kid but does have the diagnosis and I had no idea how they would look at it. But this gives me a little relief. hope things will be ok.

Balwinder, do you know anyone personally who was in the same situation.

Thanks and regards
