I asked this in another post, but have yet to receive another reply to my clarification.
I would like to know the process for someone who enters Canada illegally? Say, they arrive here, get through customs, etc. using a fake passport and then after several days or weeks, attempt to seek asylum, what would are the likely results? Jail? Deportation? What?!
Thank you!

(in reply to: Process for illegal entry into Canada? Pls Answer!) Dah wake up and smell the roses.
Go to Etobicoke CIC any Mon-Fri before it opens and there are plenty lined up to make an In Canada Refugee Claim. The person entered Canada and now will have to prove that he/she is a national of their country and will be allowed to make a refugee claim.
Period.
You said it they never got caught.

(in reply to: Process for illegal entry into Canada? Pls Answer!) if you are a chic (I mean a chic like in hot-looking) just find a sucker around (plenty of those all over the place) and get hitched. Case closed!

SIGH (in reply to: Process for illegal entry into Canada? Pls Answer!) Am I not being clear enough? I thought I was... this is a hypothetical question and does not pertain to me personally.
I am asking, lets just say, a MAN enters Canada (and makes it to Alberta) illegally and he´s here but doesn´t want to remain in the country "illegally" and decides to turn himself in, as it were, what would happen?
So, am I to understand if he proves he´s from country X, he can make a claim? But in the meantime, he just resides in the country as an illegal immigrant? With little or no rights? Is there a place or a system for dealing with this person in the meantime?
Thanks!

(in reply to: Process for illegal entry into Canada? Pls Answer!) He answers some questions and then is allowed to submit a PIF Personal Information Form which details his well founded fear of persecution from which country.
Then he applies for a work permit, student permit etc and then gets his social insurance (temporary) number and survives like the rest of us.
