Subject: After getting the PR status
Hi, I´m currently in my home country waiting to get my PR card. I just got a job offer here and I´m not sure if I want to move to Canada as soon as I get the card.

When I get the letter of acceptance, I´m planning to go to Canada with the paperwork, get the PR card and go back to my home country.

I would like to know what´s the minimum time required to be in Canada, in order to keep the PR status? Is it supposed to be 2 years within a 4-year period?

Thanks for your help

Thanks very much for the info.

Does it matter when I spend those 730 days, or it can be any time within that 5-year period?

One last question, do I have to pay Canadian taxes for all the 5 years, even if I´m not in the country all that time?

1- Any time
2-Talk to an accounting skilled person (it would be better if you declare overseas activity but not sure about it)

by accepting this offer in your home country you gonna make things to your self harder, you have at one point make up your mind, your home country or Canada cause you gonna make an unstable life to your self and people around you.

-by the way ??is it a feeling or i heard very often people saying (oh, i just got PR and an a life luck job offer come at the same time..)or
(oh just got my visa stamp and Got married befor landing)lolll

it seems that best things comes just after visa stamping lol

Well , Anyhow

Taxes (in reply to: After getting the PR status)
A quick and general overview....Income taxes are based on residency. You can still be deemed to be a resident of a country if you retain significant ties to that country such as real estate, bank accounts, spouse, etc. while not living in that country. You can call Canada Revenue Agency hotlines for guidance.

Your legal status will be permanent resident but for tax purposes you will not be resident if you have not established ties in Canada. Hence you will not be required to pay taxes on your world income until you meet the definition of residency.
