Subject: Is it time for new CAIPS?
Hello to all the regular members of this forum as well as the many new ones.

Before you continue reading, please forgive me for writing so much... but I felt that I needed to give you detailed info in order for you to give me a valid reply, thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post.

I hope some of the regulars remember my case... I have changed my name following something Roy said few weeks back... he couldn´t believe I was still waiting :O)

To refresh your memory here is our time line:

- Applied as a SW (I am the principal applicant, my husband and 3 kids are included in my application)
- We reside in Abu Dhabi therefore our application was sent to CIC London, UK.
- AOR: 08 AUG 2005
- 90 Days letter: 08 MAR 2007
- Medical Examinations, RPRF and an additional Police report requested: 26 NOV 2007
- Medical results sent: Jan 2007 (everything was normal up to this point)
- Last police report sent: June 2008 (I was granted additional time cy CIC to obtain this police report)
- Medicals expired: 31 Dec 2008
- Contacted CIC via email twice, once right before expiration of medicals and once more about a month ago, inquiring about the status of my case, they replied that background checks were still being done and that they had no idea how much longer it will take for them to give me an answer...

As you can imagine... I am just really curious to find out why are background checks taking so long in my case. It´s been a year since I sent them the last police report... I am thinking of requesting CAIPS notes once more at this point to see what has changed or to see if there is anything there that could give me an answer... I ordered CAIPS notes once before, I think Sep 2008, there, most things look normal... but maybe I missed something and I am hoping one of you guys can help me find out what this means:

On the notes there is a list of events (as you know)telling you everything included and concluded in your file... towards the end of the list, they mentioned how they were giving me time to obtain the last police report, they also noted when they received it... at this point they wrote the following:

syria pc in:
scc emailed inquiring on status of (26 Jun 2008)

(what does scc stand for? I looked it up on that CAIPS notes list of meanings but is not there... they are inquiring on the status of what?)

then following that note there is the next one:

never rc´d request - urgent (27 Jun 2008)

this just doesn´t sound good! what is urgent? what happened?

then under that note is a note which reads:

NAMES TAKEN AS PER PPT
FILE TO PA (27 JUN - 2008)

the last note reads:

PAPER FILE SENT TO: PA BF FILE TO: CSM ON 06-10-2008

Another thing that caught my attention when reading the CAIPS was the fact that under the MEDICAL ASSESSMENT section of the notes, whilst my kids and myself were assigned an IMS SERIAL NUMBER and a MEDICAL CODE, my husband was not. Why do you think that is? He had his medical examination done the same day along with the rest of the family...

Also on another page of the notes under SCC it says:
- PCs on file as follows: UAE Apr07 x 2, Venezuela May05 (P.I), USA Apr05 (P.I) - all clean.

With this note I understand that MY personal background checks were already done and that everything is ´all clean´ is this correct?

Right under that note says: Spouse ... and nothing is listed next or under it... I am assuming this is because they didn´t have the police report from Syria (my husband´s native country) and that they haven´t (at that point) done any background checks on him even though we sent USA and UAE PCs with our initial application... so is it correct to assume that the background checks they are talking about as of today are background checks on my husband ONLY?

Thank you so much for reading and for your replies.

Dear Roy, about CSIS,

I read on their website the following:

"CSIS provides security assessments of individuals to all federal government departments and agencies (except the RCMP). It does not, however, assist members of the general public with obtaining security clearances. To obtain a security clearance, you may contact the following authorities:
For all immigration/refugee/visa-related issues, contact Citizenship and Immigration Canada at 1-888-242-2100."

I know I will not be asking for a Security Clearance... but there are no obtions for someone to ask CSIS if security clearance has been requested or done under ones name.

They say I could file a complain concerning an activity conducted by CSIS, or the denial or revocation of a security clearance. Is this it? Should I file a complain although I am not sure it is there fault? I am not sure... or should I write a letter explainintg a little and ask them if they have issued PCs in my case or not?

Thanks again Roy for all your patience and help.

Is it time for new CAIPS (in reply to: Is it time for new CAIPS?)
Dear Lily,

from what I read the CIC if there is any documents missing, they will ask the applicant to submit it on a deadline...
As it´s known PC from Country of origin is the first thing, any applicant need to have his PC,and any other country that he lived more that 6 months...
did your husband include his PC,during applying & during the update Documents?if not CIC will ask for it...

if this is the case, your husband can travelto syria, and get one,if his status if CLEAN...I have syrian friends, whom they informed about how hard it is to be in clean status with their Gov,...obligatory military training and many more...and money need to be paid for the Gov for the National who lives outside syria...in order to be excempted..
if he could not get one,he can write a latter explain that was a victim of such unfair treatment beacsue of his political attitude or point of views.
I hope I well understand and could help...
good luck

Lily you have posted the same stuff over and over again.

Fish or cut Bait, make a decision.

Lily by looking at a photo of a ladies face no person can know that the body would be desirable. All details of the CAIP´s need to be assessed not just one little comment.

I offered this fax number several times and all you had to do was e-mail me but you did not!

Now everyone who believes that CSIS is a democratic organization and they care about persons who are "a victim of such unfair treatment beacsue of his political attitude or point of views". Can get a sympathetic ear at CSIS.

likely- passport is valid until January 18, 2011.

Give some serious thought to getting that passport renewed
