Subject: Permanent resident application advice needed
I was wondering if a friend of mine who came to Canada almost 4 years ago can apply for permanent residency from within Canada or does she have to apply from her home country. I was also wondering how long it would take to apply and how much it costs. I would appreciate any advice that anyone has to offer. She does have a visitors visa right now and she does keep that updated. She is getting very frustrated about not being able to work so hence the inquiry. Thank you so much

How is she going to apply? As a spouse of someone? If yes, then she can apply inland.

Not 100% sure what her situation is, but I´m assuming she is a spouse as she hasn´t been working for 4 years...

I think,in common everyone could apply inland as long as she/he has the requirements of 67 points+ with condition her/his stay should be legal in canada, during the process.
BUT...Iam NOT SURE if the VISIT VISA will give her the right to apply inland or not.
Good luck

Residency Visa (in reply to: Permanent resident application advice needed)
Hi .. I was hoping someone could advise me...I am currently living and working in Canada, I was a temporary one year Visa including a one year work permit. My partner and I wish to apply for residency and as Irish citizens we´ve been advised by our local its quicker to apply out land to the London office.

My partner and I are on permanent contracts but we don´t wish to be sponsored as we hope to be able to move around Canada as were not 100% sold on Toronto, we are eligible for 67 points system.

Our current Visa is up in late April, my query is that should we apply for an extension to our current visa and then apply for residency or should we apply directly for residency and see what happens before applying for an extension.

My second question is re medicals and qualification certification

Should we have the medical and qualifications certified before we make our residency application ( does this speed things up or should we wait until its requested?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated... thanks...K
