Subject: Visit visa while PR in process

Our PR is in process. (under LICP). which takes longer than usual spouse sponsorship here.

Due to work and our contracts, we have not seen each other for almost 4 years. And we feel like were dead waiting and hoping. I am even close to forget my spouse´ looks. Its like torture.

Honest opnions are open here:

Can my spouse apply for a visit visa, or will they likely refuse it because of in process PR?

We will provide strong ties that he will exit after his visit.

How much money is needed to satisfy IOs?

Can my employer be a part of the support inviting my spouse?

its just driving us crazy. we work here apart from families, oftentimes its useless this way? eh?

thanks for any input here...

The reason Visitor visas are not often given is because the IO needs to be convinced that the visitor will leave Canada at the end of the visit. If you have a PR application in place, it is a bit harder to show that you are only in Canada for a visit.

Go ahead and apply ~ be prepared to show LOTS of evidence that your spouse will return home. Also be prepared that the visa request may be denied.

Based on experience, your spouse will be denied and here is the possible reason: finances - (both Canadian host and applicant) for trip - let´s be realistic, if the family has money, he / she won´t be in Canada as a live-in caregiver. Even if host has a large bond to put forward, the host´s guarantee is just a small factor in the overall consideration. The other factors include: travel history; current employment; assets; family ties back home; length of stay (if it´s realistic, for example, a working adult in Asia may have only has 14-day annual vacation, so if applicant ask for 2 months, that may be a red flag); and one of the worst assessment factor: the IO´s instinct about applicant, from paper review - as officer has no obligation to offer the applicant a face-to-face interview.

She needs to show very strong ties to her home country and reasons to return. as someone who´s PR is in process for quite a long time and who is pretty much sitting on packed suitcases, the chances tend to go towards nil.
I´ve seen people in a similar situation unsuccessfully applying for a TRV who run a business and own property and have children back in their home country.
If I were you I wouldnt try, since the cost for the application is too high and the chances ridiculously slim. The chances of winning the lottery are higher - and I´m serious!
good luck!
