| Subject: Time taken by CHC Delhi to stamp immigration visa |

Dear All
I have rec´d a letter from CHC Delhi to submit passports in original for the final verification and the stamping of the passport for the visa. I am currently based outside India. Please advise
1. Can we send the passports by post.
2. How much time is taken by CHC for final verification and the stamping of the passport for the visa.
3. Can the process be expedited If we submit the passport by hand.
4. Where will they send the passports after stamping the visas - to the local address in India ?
Kindly note that my present job entails me to travel and I am not in a postion to submit the passport for a long period. In this case will they oblige and expedite the process.

Dear Ak,
mine is in the NY consulate for 15 business days already and it is not mailed to me yet.
They advise you in the letter to use regular postal services and you must not use courier services like UPS DHL or other available in India.
I mailed mine with express mail both ways and a delivery receipt.
If you submit by hand and receive by hand it will only take one week from Thursday to Thursday.
If you use the mail option they will mail the passports back to the address they have on file for you or an address that you specify when you submit the passports.
I don´t think you will be able to expedite the process faster than a week, but that´s how much I know

I am waiting for visa from NY as well. It´s been more than 3 weeks already and nothing heard back. I hope it was not lost in mail.
Any other cases where permanent visa issuance took more than 2 weeks?
