Hello,
Actually I am an international student in canada from India. Back home my mother as a principal applicant has applied for PR at New Delhi in jan 2005.Recently in dec 2008 we got the updation letter and we updated it on jan 25th.I am also a dependent in my mothers application.
Now the question is there is a close marriage in family in canada in april and I want my parents to come over and attend the marriage so that I can meet them too.so Should they apply for visitor visa ????or PR in process they should not???

PR in `process lower the chance of getting visitor visa. because you already shown the will to stay permanently in canada, but its not impossible depends on their situation in your country.
the key is: do they sufisant ground to garantee their coming back...proove it

I don´t think there should be a problem. I´ve applied my PR since 2006, and last year I applied for a visitor visa. Very easy, no interview or anything. Just bring all the documents required from their website, and remember bring an itinerary to prove that your parents are going back to India...
