Subject: Marriage- England or Canada???
Hi, I´m wondering if anyone has any ideas on this one. Me and my g/f are planning on getting married and settling in Canada, she is a Canadian citizen and currently lives there, I live and work in the UK. My question is this...would it be better (for immigration purposes) for her to come here and tie the knot or for us to do it there?
Thanks in advance

For Canadian immigration purposes, I don´t know of any reason that location of marriage would make any difference. As long as you have a valid certificate from either country to prove marriage in your immigration application.

It all depends if its the first marriage.

If some of both persons family attends the wedding is far more important if it is the first marriage for one or both.

Either way your looking at a huge expense. So who is paying the bill?

You can always state we will be having another reception in _________ country after.......

A Honeymoon during spring in Paris will be a big seller instead of photos of Niagara Falls. What ever you do be sure to load them up with copies of relationship photos. Lots of relationship photos were the two of you are showing that your confortable with each other.

Always include photos of your friends/family in the pictures. Photos of just the two of you alone always seem staged. If you have photos of one person then the other standing in front of the same thing clowning around laughing having fun make sure they are sent.

Wishing you all the best.

JT,

Were you get married does not really matter as my husband is from England and I am from Canada and we got married in Cuba. As long as you have a valid marriage licence from were you get married. If you have any other questions feel free to ask as we have been through this pretty recently. But he got to move to Canada only 4 months after we sent off our paper work.

Good luck with everything.

I vote for which ever county has more family that can/want to attend. In the end the wedding is for YOU not Canadian immigration.

one day you will need to tell the story to your kids so make it good!
