just looking into the whole prospect of immigrating. got first cousins that are legally canadian, since birth and their moving back home. since im only twenty, i was thinking about it but really need to know what kind of jobs there are for immigrants. ive just left school and if there were certain fields that have a history of an immigrant workforce, or any that may now need to employ us due to shortages, then id love to know about them. maybe i could train here and move in a few years.

my uncle was over in canada driving trucks and had the chance of naturalisation, but lost it. so i was hoping to do something similar only not driving trucks. i heard that toronto is like 50% immigrant workers. but maybe just a myth.

p.s. im from Scotland UK

This may sound a little harsh.

But you don´t have any formal education or experience on anything, in your current situation you don´t qualify as a skill worker nor for a work permit.

You have basically two choices:

1- Enroll your self in a Canadian University, come as student and then you may apply for a work permit (Restrictions apply).

2- Go to school.

Happy holidays mate.

Cheers,

Bill

I would look into a working holiday visa. It won´t let you stay forever but will give you a taste of the country and the possibilities available to you here

to bill. well ive finished secondary school with a good set of qualifications and have done two years of engineering at a top university. its kinda boring tho. i was thinking of learning a trade like an electrician or mechanic or something. maybe my question was a bit vague. i was wondering what type of industry trades like the ones mention are in short supply and are or will likely to be recruiting immigrants. you know like right now there are nursing shortages. stuff like that.

thanks for replying thow. :)

IF YOU HAVE TWO HAND, TWO LEGS, YOU CAN FIND ANY KIND OF JOB HERE!
IF YOU ARE DISABLED, YOU CAN ALSO FIND ANY KIND OF JOB HERE!
REASON, IF SOMEONE WANTS TO WORK, HE/SHE CAN FIND A JOB.

By the way, what kind of language people speak/write/read in Scotland? especialy in escondary school & top universities???

to honey moon. scotland is part or uk. i speak/write/read english as do most scots. not of of which would seen fluent to foreigners. In 2ndery school you can learn french, spannish and italian. universitys, well anything really. I learned a good bit of french, enough that i could work on to gain extra points.

in canada, i presume their are loads of jobs. i heard its quite multi-cultural. do you think if i learned a building trade in scotland it would transfer quite easily, would it be in high demand.

being really, maybe too optimistic is it possible that a uk citizen with the right attitude and work ethic can gain PR. in order to maybe gain a state job like police/fire/EMT.
