Subject: First time entry in Canada for PR - Buffalo
  Hi Folks

I got my Immigrant Visa just 2 days back and my file was processed @ buffalo.. I live in New Jersey, US and i plan to drive down to Canada in November and mark that as my official landing in Canada as an Immigrant. All i want to know is :

1. Can we enter Canada as an Immigrant by driving from USA ??
2. Are there any specific timings for the Border Immigration Office as i plan to enter Canada at night?
3. There is a white personal information sheet that I have received along with my passport, so will that be taken by the Immigrant Officer at the Border ??
4. How will we go about the PR Card processing, SIN Processing etc ??
5. I plan to leave Canada within 5 days, so it is ok if i leave Canada even before i receive my PR Card and SIN Card ??

plz answer in as much detail as possible...
Awaiting a pronto reply frm some one

Thanks in anticipation

Maddy

At Buffalo, there are two commonly used crossed points:

Peace Bridge and Niagra falls bridge. I heard that the former is better (more organized, more friendly officers..this is what i heard but I cannot guaranetee it). I recommend to deprt through peace bridge and return through nigara falls (to enjoy visiting niagra falls after being relieved from the immigration and landing)...

Visit their web sites and call the immigration officers (Canadian ones..their numbers are listed) and verify any information directly from them. WIsh you a peaceful trip.

Thanx... Does any one have answers to point no 3 & 4 ?/

Moreover wanted to ask another question, whether we as immigrants have to do anything for the PR card processing or once we give the IMM 5292 to the officer at the officer the processing will start and we ll get our PR card within some days ??

Click on (search) from the headings
In the search bar, enter the key word. In your case (PR card), SIN and you will find helpful previous postings.

3. The white form is your customs declaration and the CBSA officer will keep it.

4. After landing go to the HRDC office and request your SIN card, you will need to bring your CORP and Passport.

5. Yes.

CORP= Confirmation of Permanent Residence

Bank Statments are ok, as long as you have access to that money from Canada.

Cheers,

Bill
