  Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me. Ive been on a lot of the websites but they have confused me. My dad is trying to move to canada to work, vancouver in particular, from the UK.He is a bricklayer. He has received a job offer from British Columbia jobs (BC jobs)with a building firm (dominion masons). They have sent him a letter offering a job etc. But obvioulsy they want the fees to apply for a permit. But it is a lot of money to hand over just like that. Around ?3500 i think for everything.

Does anyone know if he is being sponsored by a employer it will guarantee the permit? they say they will get a permit through a BC Provincial Nominee or a skilled worker migrant. We dont want to throw money away and my dad is 59. But he fits the other criteria and seems to get enough points.

Should we pay the money? And will this guarantee everything?

Sorry if this is a bit vague. But we just wanted someones advice that really knows or has been through similar.

thank you so much

?3500 to apply for a permit???? Thats $7,000 Canadian. I dont think the job offer is real. I would be careful before handing over the money.

Its ?500 to start then get the full residency. They are a job agency called bc jobs and state the already have the permit pre approved.

What are they charging for? Getting you a job or applying for the work permit?

Either way, I would check up before handing in the money. Have you contacted Chamber of Commerce or Better Business Bureau in the city/region they are in?

Bricklayer is an occupation under pressure in BC, so if they already have pre-approval I don?t see why it would cost them $7,000 to get a permit.

bcjobs.ca is a provincial website with information only. something is really not smelling right. hang on to your money until you get this sorted out. $7,000 is LOT of money.

the economy is tightening up and we are seeing very few construction projects coming on line. when the current work is completed there will be layoffs.
