Subject: unable to land at this time
Due to my personal situation, I am unable to land at this time during the validity of immigrant visa stamp on my passport.
1.If I decide not to land now, can I request CIC to extend immigrant visa? do they entertain such request?
2. If I do not land at this time, will it affect if I apply for visitor visa to Canada in future?
3. If I do not land, can I ask for refund for landing fee?
4.If decide to reapply for PR in future, can this no-show impact future application?
Thanks for your help.

1.If I decide not to land now, can I request CIC to extend immigrant visa? do they entertain such request?
NO WAY.. WILL NEVER BE EXTENDED WHATSOEVER...DON´T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT..CIC VERY STRICT IN THIS REGARD.

2. If I do not land at this time, will it affect if I apply for visitor visa to Canada in future?
NO. TWO SEPARATE THINGS.

3. If I do not land, can I ask for refund for landing fee?
YES. JUST WRITE A LETTER REQUESTING REFUND OF MONEY.

4.If decide to reapply for PR in future, can this no-show impact future application?
YES..BECAUSE YOU DID´T SHOW INTEREST IN CANADA ON THE FIRST TIME AND YOU WASTED CIC TIME IN PROCESSING YOUR FILE DELAYING OTHERS WHO HAVE GENUINE INTEREST IN LANDING.

Thanks for your help

PR aspirant,
Not all what Anonymous said is correct.

1.If I decide not to land now, can I request CIC to extend immigrant visa? do they entertain such request?

No, once the visa is issued, that´s it.

2. If I do not land at this time, will it affect if I apply for a visitor visa to Canada in the future?

Yes, it will. Although there are two separate issues, you have shown intentions of living permanently in Canada so it will be harder for you to convince the officer that you have no intentions to stay in Canada beyond the authorize time as a visitor. Since your intentions before were permanent.

3. If I do not land, can I ask for refund of the landing fee?

NO. Once the visa is approved and issued there is no refund.

4.If decide to reapply for PR in the future, can this no-show impact future application?

Yes.

Answer 3:

YES... Since you didn´t land, you can ask for refund of the landing fee.

Sorry Bill, you are incorrect on the refund. He can get a refund on his landing fees if he does not land.

I also have to agree with the first anonymous. If he reapplies for PR, the visa officer would most probably be question why he did not land the first time. Now he has a very good reason, visa can still be granted, but he would have to convince the CIC as to why he didnt land the first time around.
