Subject: Temporary Work Permit (ROY)
I could not include my husband on my work permit application due to the fact that he is not allowed in my home country (U.S.) He´s residing in Mexico (Mexican citizen) for the last 18 months. He´s coming for a visit to canada about 5 months Oct-Mar)for the holiday season with me and our two children (two chilren are with me in Saskatchewan already), Will he have a problem at the port of entry in Saskatchewan? I plan on appling for his open work permit after he arrives. My permit is for 2 years under Nafta.

I´m worried that immigration will not let him in. I´m soo used to the bad immigration policies and bad treament from U.S. immigration officials.

Please help to ease my worries and my tenisons. Let me know what to expect good or bad.

I did send him a true copy of my work permit and true copy of our marriage certificate. I sent him a notorized letter of invitation, and a copy of his itinerary showing his return flight as he has an e-ticket.

Please reply.

This does not make sense. You could of gone home and arrived on the same plane via Mexico.

The fact that you didn´t include your husband in your application is not a good thing.

I am not sure if your husband will be able to enter Canada, he may or may not.
What is the reason for his visit? That is the first question from the officer at the port of entry.

If he gets in....
The problem is when you apply for his work permit, you could be charge for misrepresentation since you didn´t tell the truth and things can go south pretty quick from there for both of you.

There is something here that doesn´t make sense. The fact that he can´t enter the US, what has to do with not including your husband for a work permit in Canada?

Do you think that you could included him in a later date?
WRONG.... think again.

Cheers,

Bill

Port of entry did not even take my app. (in reply to: Temporary Work Permit (ROY))
First of all in the CIC website it clearly states that if my spouse is coming in at a different time and not accompanying me then he has to file seperately.

Second of all, do you realize how much those airline tickets are? I spent $1200 just on his flight into Canada. I have two children, four people flying at $1200 a piece is more than I can handle. Not every one has $5000 just sitting in the bank. So i am driving from detroit, which has always been my home. Where i was born, not mexico. I am 100% gringa. Since i have taken a job under NAFTA (Industrial Designer) that qualifies my spouse for an open work permit. And since my work permit is valid for 2 years that makes him eligible for stay for the two year period.

Third, when I went to the port of entry in Detroit, (close to home), I tried handing her my application for the work permit but she said "No, I do not need that". Considering these facts i feel that he shouldn´t have a problem since Canadian immigration did not even bother to accept the application, they just looked at my credentials and my offer letter of employment and just decided to issue me the permit.

I was just asking for advice. No where in the cic website does it say that my spouse will be refuse because he applied seperately.
