Subject: New PR without SIN? |
|
|

Hi everyone,
Last year just when I was approved to be a PR, I had to go to the US with my husband for his new job. Since I had to wait for 4 weeks for my PR card to arrive, I did not have time to go get a new SIN (I had an old one because I was working with a work permit).
Now I´m still accompanying my husband for his job in the US, but I wonder whether it is okay to NOT have a new SIN (the old one, of course, has expired). It looks like going back and apply for it personally is the only way. Is that right? And when I finally go back (hopefully early next year), will there be any problem for me to apply for a new SIN? Will my old information be updated to the new SIN? (e.g. E.I.)
I hope I have made my question clear. Please help if you have any experience or suggestion. Thank you!

(in reply to: New PR without SIN?) Shouldn´t be a problem. Just go to Service Canada with your PR card and they will give you a number right away. The card will take a while to arrive.
