Subject: Can I move my skilled worker case to another count
Hi, my name is Salman. Currently, I´m a student at Middlesex University pursuing MSc Business IT. I´ve completed my BSc Computer Science and Mathematics from University of Toronto, Canada in 2006. (i was in canada with my parents under their immigration case) I also have work experience from US and Canada. I worked at IBM Canada for two years. I applied for canadian immigration in Pakistan in 2006 when i went back from Canada. My case has been in process since september 2006. It takes about
4-5 years for processing in Pakistan (2 years has been passed). Now I want to know if i can transfer my case to London,UK (im in London on a student visa valid until may 2009). I´ll be done with my MSc by January 2009. After that my plan is to work full-time with IGS. Will the processing time be changed if i move the case to London? I tried contacting Canadian High commission in London, no response. I also tried contacting High commission in Pakistan, they said transferring the file wont affect the processing time since i ve initially applied in Pakistan. I need some guidance about how to go about this? or should I just leave it the way it is in Pakistan? Another thing is that the situation in Pakistan is getting worse day by day and i heard in the news that foreign embassies might be closed in near future in Pakistan. So that´s another reason i want to move my case. Please let me know. Thanks.

Salman

Hi Salman
Your query is long and I am also not an expert to offer any advise. I only want to address your fears on the PK situation, I am in Pakistan (Islamabad) and as regards foreign embassies getting close or things getting worse, there´s nothing of that sort happening. Its only some of the Frontier areas hit by troubles and people moving out to avoid violence. The media might be creating hype, but it is pretty much business as usual so dont worry on that part. I guess all embassies/high commisions are working full swing. Just focus on the decisions you have to make keeping in mind everything will be perfect in Pakistan. InshAllah
Good luck

Mr. Salman, you can transfer your file to UK and it does make a difference. Processing time is shorter in UK than Pakistan. So go ahead, write a letter to Canadian Embassy in Pakistan with file no. and all the deatils and request a transfer to file to UK. Attach the documents proving your current status in UK.

transfer is not mandatory especially if the chances are great for the file getting to AIP after the permit expires.

What do you mean by this?

(i was in canada with my parents under their immigration case)

Do you mean they made a refugee claim and you were a dependent at that time? Did you leave Canada by first informing CBSA?

So where are the parents, now?

For an IT savvy person you sure ask a confusing question.
