this is the 2nd time you are posting the same inquiry. Your question has received a lot of comments previously. By the way what kind of black and white do you want to know that you did not get satisfy and you posted the same inquiry again. I shall cut the long story short. Canada is far better than Pakistan in all the aspects. JOb market is not very good but not bad either, if you have something to offer and you know how to present yourself, you will easily make your living. Migration is a big decision and it takes at least 2 years to get settle when you move to a different country. Rest, it is assured that Canada is defintely a better country than Pakistan and you will be far better than what you are getting Pakistan, if you are an hardworking person. Good Luck!

Let´s not be so smug in our own self-superiority. "Better" can be defined in many ways, not just material wealth. It makes a better impression to be modest about the place you come from, never leave, and as a result have little first hand knowledge about the rest of the world.

Thanks Mike and Richard for ur replies. i appreciate ur efforts. Mike as u know moving to another country is not an easy decision to make. and especially when u have kids and family dependent on you. Nor do i have so much money that i can survive there in the initial 6 months after arriving. What i mean by black and white is that what job will i get , or what will i have to do after getting there to earn my living. and first shuld i come alone settle down things and then call my family or shuld we all come along. Plus what will be the initial cost of expenses which i have to bear every month after arriving in Canada and what possible jobs i can get soonest after reaching there. Which state of canada should i prefer to live in? and where i can easily find jobs and accomodation in the minimum possible rates.

i have three things in my mind if possibly workable there.

a plan of opening a desi cousine restaurant i mean not a proper dine inn but sort of a DESI FAST FOOD, Like desi burger and other desi fast food items.
OR
Importing pakistani canned foods and other NIMCO or desi spices for foods n stuff.
OR
Opening a garment retail shop of basic night wear and other garments product from pakistan of export quality. Sort of a five dollar for two garments shop.

These are the few ideas in my mind to do there. Which one do u think seems more workable and what is the right market place for any of the above things and what do u think is the future for it. Also tell me how much dollars will i require to start any of the above business on a lower scale?

Please Please Please do advise me ppl as they are precious gem to me in making my career in CANADA

for your business to be successful, you will need to locate where you will have sufficient Desi customers. In Vancouver/Surrey there are already hundreds of such businesses and I would suggest only a few are doing well enough to survive.

we have provinces - not states.

The business ideas you have in mind suit Toronto and area. Although there are a lot of south asian resturants in Toronto but almost all of them are doing good. So if you can find a better location and offer something unique then food business is always the best business. I would not suggest garment business as there is a lot of competetion and people mostly like to wear known Canadian and international brands. Food business is a better idea. However, the best thing for you would be to come and see the markets yourself, study it and then make a decision. Coming alone in the begining is a good idea, you can freely move around, look for an apartment, and find a survival job and then call your family so that they do not have to see all the hardships that an immigrant go through in the begining.

SECONDLY it is TOO early to make ideas and thing about these things, you need to apply first and it is going to take GOD knows how many years and who knows what be the situation of Canadian markets after 5 years. 5-6 years is a long time. So keep your fingers crossed. Once you are here, your mind will automatically start generating ideas. So worry about the immigration process before thinking about these things. Good Luck!

Dear Shan,

Food business is good one; NO matter what happened to the Economy..PEOPLE have to eat.I don´t know how much you need to establish a Business in Canada but it´s more than Pakistan.I guess small mobile HOTDOG shop would cost less. And you can sell food (desi hamburger)near the Night clubs and bars.

But you have to open a company first( I don´t the fees) and get a VAT number.

over half of all restaurants fail in the first 3 years. When the economy tightens, people start eating at home. just ask Starbucks.
