Subject: Sponsoring my spouse who lives in Lebanon
  Hi

I am a candian citizen living in Canada, and I got married with a Lebanese woman last May 25th 2008, got back to Montreal a month later, then completed and sent all the applications with all documents to Mississauga, the post indicated the reception on July 15th 2008

Now the last news I got from immigration Canada is that the applications are not treated yet as they are still working on the June ones... :/ And it seems it takes 1 month here in Canada before they send them to Damascus office

My brother did the same in 2005, got married with a Lebanese woman and 3 to 4 months later she got her Visa... I donno if he was an exceptional fast process or if it is a norm

Does anyone has an estimate how long all this process might take these days?

On the other hand I hear news of people who brought their women to be here with them as visitors while the applications are treated, and Immigration canada even told me some visa offices can even allow an interview in Canada if the spouse is accepted as a visitor... I called to ask the Damascus Canadian embassy and the people there do not give any info that is helpful!

Anyone has some hints for me please?

Thanks
Michel

don´t go by what happened to your brother 3 years ago. it will only frustrate you. It depends o the time of year, how many people are in the line in front of you and the details of your application.

outland applications go faster than any other CIC exercise so try very hard to be patient - even if you don´t want to.

Assume it will be 6 - 8 months and if it is less, you can be pleasantly surprised.

as for a visitor visa, you can try but don´t count on it.
