Subject: The right route of proceedure Uk to Canada
Hey folks I have been reading various topics today and thought maybe someone could help me out.
Ive been trawling the relevant CA web pages and with a hundred tabs open just seem to be going round in circles.

General info I´m 27m, Stained Glass Artist in Scotland Uk.
I had the Bunac work visa in 2006, I was only in Canada 2 months and had to return due to partners ill health. I didn´t actually start working at all over there. Anyway as I understand you only get 1 work visa and thats mine gone. :(
I now want to get back to Canada and am fully mixed up about how I´m meant to go about it.

Do I have to fly over there as a tourist on holiday, find & secure a job. The employer sorts out the CIC hdrc thing, I return to the UK. Apply for my temp work visa or perm immigration, waiting however long that takes then fly back entering with my work permit, while the nice emplyee had held this job open for me....
It seems somewhat complicated route of going about things. But you cant apply for a permit from within Canada? Is that right.

Ive been sending emails about jobs from sites such as monster but it seems somewhat unlikely a employer will bother with the hassle, with the exception of highly skilled jobs. So I figure the only way to get a job would to be over in Canada looking. But its going to be somewhat costly going back & forth...

Ive got the books and read the web pages and im totally bamboozled. I mean I presume there is a big difference securing a job as a Engineer and say a clerk in a book store. It would have to be a fairly qualified job to get in right? I´m a stained glass artist & over here I do restoration work & self employed work. I don´t have a degree so I have concern I wont make the 67 points to immigrate. And its very unlikely ill secure a job in my area of skills, I have emailed all the companies. So employment wise initially Im looking at general min wage work until I can set up my glass work over there.

Any questions to me welcome Im free to chat, and anyone that has any pointers with advice its very, very much welcome.
Cheers folks

Pete

Hi Pete
Buy yourself a copy of "Work your way around the world" by Susan Griffith, 13th edition. You could purchase online at

http://bookshop.blackwell.co.uk/jsp/id/Work_Your_Way_Around_the_World_A_Fresh_and_Fully_Up_To_Date_Guid/9781854583673

This book contains a wealth of info, it has chapters for almost all countries of the world, where you could consider going for work. It includes Canada, it will explain the red tape in obtaining visas and useful tips and hundereds of suggested websites. In short, a vlaueable resource in my opinion. You might want to have a have a look.

Greetings from Pakistan

Its just the whole going over finding a job, comming back, applying and going there again seems a pain in the ass route, well a costly one anyway.
