Applying for Canada visitor visa

Subject: Applying for Canada visitor visa

I am residing in US in H1 (work permit) visa but not working currently. I would like to visit Canada. Can me and my husband apply separately show my husband is supporting me financially. Also I don´t have any relatives or friends in Canada to provide me an invitation letter. Is the letter mandatory, if so how can i get it in that case?
