Hello,
How does Bill C-50 impact on sponsoring parents? I would like to sponsor my two parents and my sister who is currently 16 years old.
They are living in Punjab. My father is 60 yrs age and mother is 55 years age.
I heard that this Bill C-50 may make it longer time to sponsor parents. Someone told me could be 5 - 7 years.
Is this true?
Thanks,
Rishi

Both processing times are found on their web site www.cic.gc.ca You need to ascertain the time it will take to be accepted as a sponsor then the time for them to be approved.
C-50 has not been implemented as of yet but answer this what other option do you have?
Fish or cut bait.

(in reply to: Bill C-50 and its impact on sponsoring parents) C-50 may not be the cause of the wait. a huge flood of applications will be. Canada invites 350,000 immigrants into the country every year. If each one wants to sponsor mom or dad, and we can only allow 50-60,000 family class applicants into the country each year... you can see how there is an exponential explosion of applications waiting for their turn.
It will not get better... only worse and at some point family class is going to face the same struggle as the skilled worker backlog and new rules or criteria will have to be found to reduce the wait (and the backlog)
