I am on a work permit. My Visa expired and so does the work permit. However, I had my work permit extended to stay and work in Canada, but my visa remains expired. I am planning to get a vacation outside Canada.
Do I need to renew my visa to re-enter Canada?

I´m in the same situation, I have a valid open work permit but my visa has expired and I want to go on a vacation and come back but don´t know if i have to apply for a visitor visa... also it says on the cic website that if you hold a visitor visa you can´t work in canada... what if you have an open work permit and a visitor visa?

you can apply for a work visa extention before you leave canada. or do what i did. when i arrived in my destination country, i applied for a new work visa, attached with my application is my work permit. it was quick. no hassle. no problem.
i am now a permanent resident of canada.
