Subject: Moving to Vancouver - Help !!
I am living in Toronto as PR since Dec 2007, after lots of thinking, I am planning to move to Vancouver in few days.

I personally feel Toronto is great city to live , lots of professional jobs in all sectors, skin color and accent does not matter a whole lot as mostly every second person is an immigrant in Toronto but I hate the cold weather and I am planning to make a move, also I have brother and is family in California, so I am close to them in Vancouver

I have done my MBA in marketing(from India) and I am looking for jobs in professional business services, please tell me how is the job market in Vancouver area, I have heard about higher cost of living, Since I am single i just want to rent a room in good location and move on

Is it easy to get a survival jobs for initial few months of settlement, I don´t know anybody in Vancouver, and that´s making me afraid,

Any help in finding a room, info on survival jobs etc will be highly appreciated , also feel free to discuss advantages and disadvantages of living in Vancouver

FYI the job market in Vancouver is extremely competitive, because there are so many individuals there, or individuals who want to live there. You may have to go for many interviews before you are offered, but it depends on your skill set, experience and interview skills.

Vancouver vs Toronto (in reply to: Moving to Vancouver - Help !!)
There should be some consideration given to your personal safety in moving to Vancouver. As I understand it, British Columbia has 9 out of 10 of the most dangerous cities in which to live.

The British Columbia weather is very good and the province has spectacular scenery. It is a bit more expensive to live there but it is worth it.

I would still pick Vancouver over Toronto.

Vancouver isn´t dangerous, unless you are involved with bad things. The majority of deaths revolve around drugs.

yes, Vancouver is dangerous if you are a drug dealer/gang member and you have a habit of hanging out in places with a bad reputation at 2am.

I have lived in Vancouver all my life and there is about a 6 block area in the city I avoid. That´s it.
