I called ICBC and they said an american drivers licence is valid in BC for 90 days if you are a resident with a work visa. I don´t understand what you have to do after 90 days to keep working as an american truck driver in BC for up to one year.

You need to ascertain if any province has a reciprocal agreement with your Long Haul Truck Drivers License state or country.

Then you change your license to that province and show it to apply for a work permit based on a LMO.

South Korea has a reciprocal agreement with Saskatchewan so anything is possible.

Once you find a province then get their license then switch it again to the actual province that you have the offer of employment.

Got it?

No i don´t got it. What do you mean by reciprocal agreement, and why would i get a licence from a province i have no desire to work or live in? That sounds like a waste of time and money. Why not just do it right the first time?
Thanks anyway

Okay you can save fifty cents and accomplish nothing or you can try to understand.

In the States each State issues their own Driver Licenses which are valid in any State you wish to drive. When you move to another State you are suppose to go in and amend your drivers license to that States License CORRECT?

It is the same in Canada, each province issues their own licenses. When you move to another province you change to that provinces drivers license GOT IT!

Now Canada is a separate country and like the States each State/Province has their own rules about issuing Driver Licenses.

In Canada (certain) Provinces will allow any American to just switch their LONG HAUL TRUCK DRIVERS LICENSE to that provinces license without taking a new drivers test etc. I do not know about BC

So if BC does it you have little issue BUT if not I know NB only requires an address in that province. Then take your NB license to BC and switch it to a BC one and get your work permit.
